HAMILTON, ON – The Hamilton Bulldogs dropped their third straight game on Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 loss to the Manitoba Moose at Copps Coliseum. With the loss, the ‘Dogs record falls to 31-25-2-5 on the campaign.
Matt D’Agostini opened the scoring for Hamilton at 3:10 of the first period when his wrist shot from the top of the face-off circle eluded goaltender Cory Schneider. D’Agostini’s goal, his 18th of the season, was assisted by Brock Trotter and Eric Manlow and ended Manitoba’s shutout streak at 130:33.
The Moose evened the score 1-1 at 9:47 of the opening frame when Michael Grabner tipped home his 16th marker of the season. Colby Genoway and Maxime Fortunus earned helpers on the play.
At 3:51 of the second period, Manitoba took a 2-1 lead when Fortunus notched his fifth tally of the campaign. Brad Moran and Nolan Baumgartner drew helpers on the power-play goal.
Grabner put the game on ice for the Moose with his second tally of the night at 15:20 of the final stanza. Genoway, picking up his second assist of the night, and former Bulldog Danny Groulx earned helpers on the 3-1 goal.
Between the pipes, Yann Danis turned aside 14 of the 17 shots he faced in a losing effort for the Bulldogs, while Cory Schneider made 13 saves on 14 shots to register the win for the Moose.
Hamilton went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Manitoba went 1-for-5 with the man advantage.
