‘DOGS FALL TO BABY LEAFS

The Bulldogs had their four-game winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to the Marlies

TORONTO, ON – The Hamilton Bulldogs suffered their first loss in five games and had their five-game road winning streak snapped on Saturday night with a 3-0 loss to the Toronto Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum. With the loss, Hamilton’s record drops to 23-20-1-5 on the season.

The Marlies opened the scoring at 16:45 of the first period when Jeremy Williams potted his 13th goal of the campaign. Andy Wozniewski and Kris Newbury earned assists on the play.

Derrick Walser extended Toronto’s lead with a goal on a 5-on-3 power play at 18:16 of the middle stanza. Walser’s goal, his 12th of the season, was assisted by Williams and made the score 2-0.

In the third period, Ben Ondrus sealed the 3-0 win for the Marlies with his ninth tally of the season at the 15:41 mark. Bryan Muir and Mitchell, who earned his third point of the night, picked up helpers on the final goal of the game.

Between the pipes, Jaroslav Halak made 28 saves on 31 shots for Hamilton in a losing effort, while Scott Clemmensen turned aside all 29 of the shots he faced to post a shutout for Toronto.

The Bulldogs went 0-for-3 on the power play, while the Marlies were 2-for-6 with the man advantage.

Hamilton forward Kyle Chipchura and defenceman Ryan O’Byrne each played in their 100th career AHL games in the contest.
