BULLDOGS EARN ONE POINT IN 3-2 SHOOTOUT LOSS

'Dogs wrap up 2011 vs. Lake Erie Monsters

Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs earned one point in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Lake Erie Monsters in their last game of 2011.

The Hamilton Bulldogs were first to get on the board after a scoreless first period. Ian Schultz threaded a slot pass to Philippe Lefebvre who beat Lake Erie Monsters goaltender Trevor Cann at 3:45 in the second period to snap a 20-game goalless streak. The period ended with the Bulldogs leading the Monsters 19-12 in shots.

At 4:09 in the third period, Patrick Bordeleau scored his first of the season by pushing a Zach Cohen rebound past ‘Dogs netminder Robert Mayer to tie the game at 1. Cohen earned his first goal of the season later in the period, making it 2-1 for the Monsters. Hamilton would even the score with only 38 seconds left in the third period when Olivier Fortier netted his sixth of the season, assisted by Andreas Engqvist and Aaron Palushaj.

The game would end in a shootout, with Engqvist scoring for the Bulldogs while Patrick Rissmiller and Tyson Barrie cemented the win for the Monsters. Hamilton recorded a total of 31 shots on goal to Lake Erie's 21.
