CLEVELAND, OH - It was another battle against goaltender Gerald Coleman as the Hamilton Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the Lake Erie Monsters.
Lake Erie took a 1-0 lead when Joel Chouinard's shot deflected off Mike Carman and past Hamilton goaltender Nathan Lawson with less than 3 minutes left to play in the first period. The Bulldogs doubled the Monsters in shots for most of the period, leading 12-9 after 20 minutes.
At 5:03 in the second period, Brian Willsie tied the game at 1 on a 2-on-1 play, with Louis Leblanc recording an assist on the goal. But the Monsters would take it right back when Patrick Rissmiller's 6:54 shot trickled between Lawson's pads and past the goal line to make it 2-1.
The Monsters added an empty net goal with 17 seconds left in the game to cement their 3-1 victory over the ‘Dogs. Hamilton outshot Lake Erie 29-26 in the game.
