HAMILTON, ON – Jaroslav Halak turned aside 31 of 32 shots and Corey Locke scored at 4:27 of overtime to lift the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 2-1 win over the Lake Erie Monsters on Wednesday night at Copps Coliseum. With the win, the ‘Dogs record improves to 22-19-1-5.

Lake Erie opened the scoring just 54 seconds into the first period when Philippe Dupuis notched his 11th goal of the season. Eric Healey and Dale Purinton earned assists on the play.

Eric Manlow ended Hamilton’s franchise-long home goalless drought (Jan. 23 - Feb. 6) at 151:55 with his seventh tally of the campaign at 11:08 of the opening frame. The Bulldogs’ previous span without a goal at home was 138:55 from November 12th to 26th during the 2004-2005 season. Mathieu Carle and Matt D’Agostini earned assists on the 1-1 marker.

There was no scoring in the second or third periods and the game went to overtime.

With 33 seconds left in the extra frame, Marvin Degon fed Corey Locke who fired a wrist shot over the shoulder of Monsters’ netminder Mike Wall to propel Hamilton to the 2-1 win. The goal, Locke’s 18th of the season and team-leading fourth game-winner of the campaign, was also assisted by Daniel Corso.

Between the pipes, Hamilton goaltender Jaroslav Halak picked up his 10th win of the season while his counterpart Mike Wall made 32 saves on 34 shots in a losing effort for Lake Erie.

The Bulldogs were 0-for-2 with the man advantage while the Monsters went 0-for-3 on the power play.
