CANADIENS SIGN ALEX HENRY TO A TWO-YEAR CONTRACT

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Pierre Gauthier announced today the signing of defenceman Alex Henry to a two-year, two-way contract (2010-2011 and 2011-2012). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Henry, 30, captained the Bulldogs this past season as he registered 13 assists and ranked second on the team in penalty minutes with 154 in 68 games played. The 6-foot-6, 231-pound defenceman has played a total of 177 NHL games recording 11 points (two goals, nine assists) and 269 penalty minutes. The native of Elliot Lake, Ontario has also played a total of 479 AHL games amassing 65 points (14 goals, 51 assists) and 788 penalty minutes. Henry was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 3rd round, 67th overall in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and first signed with Montreal as a free agent on July 3rd, 2008.
