HAMILTON, ON - Every month, the Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club and Mountaineer Movers team up to recognize a ‘Dogs player's outstanding contribution to the community.
In January, Bulldogs teammates Hunter Bishop and Brendon Nash tied for the honour of greatest Bulldogs community ambassador, focusing their efforts this month on school visits.
On Wednesday, January 25th, 2012, Bishop and Nash attended a literacy assembly at Mary Hopkins Public School in Waterdown, Ontario. The players read the book "Brady Brady and the Runaway Goalie" by Mary Shaw and Chuck Temple to the entire school, and spoke to the children about the importance of literacy. The students had lots of fun, especially since they had the opportunity to turn the tables on the players and ask them questions as well.
On Thursday, January 26th, 2012, Bishop and Nash visited Pine Grove School in Oakville, Ontario to conduct a "Stick with School" assembly. Two sessions were needed to accommodate all the students at this school. Bishop and Nash discussed the importance of working hard at school, even while working hard at other activities like athletics. They also shared some of their own school experiences, growing up and dreaming of becoming professional hockey players.
Bishop and Nash will be recognized prior to tonight's 7:30 p.m. game at Copps Coliseum against the Albany Devils. All Hamilton Bulldogs games can be heard live on AM 820 CHAM or on www.hamiltonbulldogs.com, or seen live on www.ahllive.com beginning with the Pioneer Pre-Game Show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Tonight's game will also be broadcast live on Cable 14 (check your local listings).
Community involvement is an important activity for all members of the Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club, and an integral element of Bulldogs Foundation programming. Players, coaches, and staff are always looking for new ways to give back to the local community.
