Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Syracuse Crunch 2-1 on Wednesday night in front of 3,258 fans at Copps Coliseum. Trevor Frischmon scored at 13:38 of the final frame to earn the victory for the Crunch.
After a scoreless first period, Kyle Chipchura gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead at 6:11 of the middle frame. Chipchura gained a breakaway after receiving a pass at centre ice from Greg Stewart. Chipchura raced in on Syracuse starting goaltender Sebastian Dahm before using a backhand to forehand move and flipping the puck over Dahm's right shoulder.
Syracuse tied the game at 9:19 of the final frame. Mike York and Derek MacKenzie raced in on a 2-on-1. York elected to pass the puck to MacKenzie, who blasted a shot past the blocker of Hamilton starting goaltender Marc Denis. Syracuse took a 2-1 lead at 13:38. John Vigilante fired a shot towards that net that bounced off a Hamilton defender's stick before being tipped by Frischmon. Frischmon tipped the puck up and over the right shoulder of Denis.
The Bulldogs host the Binghamton Senators on Friday, February 6th for a 7:30 p.m. match-up at Copps Coliseum.
