‘Dogs will play three pre-season games against the Binghamton Senators in three different Newfoundland cities

July 26, 2010

HAMILTON, ON - Hamilton Bulldogs President and Governor Glenn Stanford announced today that the club will travel to Newfoundland to open their 2010 training camp.

The 'Dogs will meet the Binghamton Senators (AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators) in three games in three different cities in Newfoundland. The Bulldogs will arrive in Corner Brook, Newfoundland on Tuesday, September 28th and practice there for a few days while the Senators will arrive on Wednesday, September 29th. The teams will play the first game of their three-game series on Thursday, September 30th at 6:00 p.m. EST at Pepsi Centre in Corner Brook. The two clubs will then travel to Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland for Game 2 at 12:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, October 2nd at Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium. The third and final game will be played at 12:30 p.m. EST on Sunday, October 3rd at Mile One Stadium in St. John's Newfoundland. This will be the second time that Hamilton has opened their training camp in Newfoundland. In 2008, the Bulldogs won the Iceberg Cup, a three-team tournament featuring the Toronto Marlies and Manitoba Moose that took place in St. John's. Last year, the Bulldogs held their training camp in Edinburgh, Scotland where they won the Gardiner Cup, which was a four-team tournament featuring the Toronto Marlies, Edinburgh Capitals and Belfast Giants.

The 'Dogs will return to Hamilton on Monday, October 4th to hold the remainder of their training camp, hold their ninth annual Hamilton Bulldogs Charity Golf Classic and prepare for their 15th anniversary season. All training camp sessions in Hamilton will be open to the public.

"This is the third year in a row we have opened our training camp on the road and we are happy to return to Newfoundland. The entire camp was held in St. John's in 2008 and we feel fortunate to be able to showcase other regions of Newfoundland to both the Hamilton Bulldogs and Binghamton Senators", said Bulldogs President and Governor Glenn Stanford. "Over the past two years, the regular season success of the Bulldogs began with successful training camps in both Newfoundland and Scotland."

"Training camp in Newfoundland will be an early opportunity for team bonding and makes sense for the Senators because of logistical circumstances within our own building in Binghamton. This is also an excellent opportunity to further exposure of the American Hockey League", said Binghamton Senators Executive Vice President of Operations Tom Mitchell.
