After receiving a pass from Malone, Jake Newton took a slap shot from the point which was tipped in front of the net by Gaunce past Mayer.

The Monsters added another goal at 13:31 of the third period on a goal by Hugh Jessiman. After a Hamilton defender gave away the puck, Jessiman snapped the puck past Mayer.
