Abbotsford, British Columbia – The Abbotsford Heat defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 5-1 at Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre on Friday night.  Ben Street and Ben Walter each had a goal and an assist with Walter scoring the game-winner.

The Heat opened the scoring at 6:50 of the opening frame on a five-on-three goal by Street.  Sven Baertschi slapped a pass in front of the net to Street who tipped the puck past Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Robert Mayer.  The Heat doubled their lead just 32 seconds later at 7:22 of the first period on a power-play tally by Walter.  Walter put the puck through the legs of Mayer and with that goal, became the all-time leader in points for the Abbotsford Heat.

Abbotsford made it 3-0 at 4:03 of the second stanza on a goal by Quintin Laing.  Brett Olsen found the puck in his skates and got the puck over to Laing who put it into the open net.  The Heat added another power-play tally at 8:12 of the second frame from Roman Horak who shovelled the puck over Mayer and into the back of the net.

The Bulldogs got on the board at 3:42 of the third frame on a shorthanded marker by Gabriel Dumont.  After entering the Abbotsford zone on a one-on-two, Dumont split the defenders and put a shot on Abbotsford Heat starting goaltender Barry Brust and then put in his own rebound.

Steve McCarthy added a fifth goal for the Heat on the power-play at 6:34 of the third period as he slapped a shot past Mayer.
