Toronto, Ontario – The Toronto Marlies defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum. Nicolas Deschamps scored a goal including the game-winner and added two assists.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 7:22 of the opening frame on Zack Stortini’s second goal of the season. Olivier Fortier grabbed the puck behind the net and centered it out in front of the net to Stortini who wristed it over the pad of Toronto Marlies starting goaltender Jussi Rynnas. The ‘Dogs notched a quick tally just 11 seconds later after a puck tipped off of a Toronto defender and bounced out to Gabriel Dumont at the crease who roofed it over Rynnas.
The Marlies got on the board at 7:11 of the second period on a goal by Carter Ashton. After receiving a pass from Joe Colborne, Ashton flew down the left side and wrapped around the net and tucked the puck past Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Robert Mayer. Toronto tied the score at two on a power-play marker by Simon Gysbers at 9:57 of the second. Gysbers received the puck at the point and slid a shot through traffic which went in the net under Mayer.
Deschamps gave the Marlies a 3-2 lead at 3:45 of the third frame. Mike Mottau picked up a pass at the left point and feathered the puck to Deschamps at the right circle who blew a shot into the open net before Mayer could reach it. Spencer Abbott put Toronto up by two at 11:32 of the third period as he picked up a loose puck in front of the net and backhanded it over Mayer.
