GAME PREVIEW: GRIFFINS @ BULLDOGS

HAMILTON, ONTARIO – The Hamilton Bulldogs (5-3-0-3) will play host to the Calder Cup Champion Grand Rapids Griffins (8-2-1-1) tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum in the second of four meetings between the two teams this season as well as the Griffins’ final stop at Copps in 2013-2014. The Bulldogs will be looking to rebound from a 4-3 shootout loss to the Griffins in the first meeting between these two teams on October 11th.

The Bulldogs currently sit tied for first place in the North Division with the Toronto Marlies, with a three-point cushion on the third-place Rochester Americans. On Wednesday evening in Rochester, New York, the ‘Dogs surrendered just their third regulation loss of the season to the Amerks, falling 5-3. The loss was the first time through 11 games this season that a Hamilton game didn’t end by a one-goal margin.

The Griffins are coming in hot, having won each of their past six contests.  The league leaders in goals for (47) last played on Wednesday evening at home, topping the Rockford IceHogs 6-2.

In four meetings last season, Hamilton was 1-3-0-0 against Grand Rapids.

- There are currently four Ontario natives listed on the Griffins roster: F Riley Sheahan (St. Catharines), F David McIntyre (Pefferlaw), F Cory Emmerton (St. Thomas), D Ryan Sproul (Toronto).
- Grand Rapids leading scorer Gustav Nyquist is currently tied for fourth in AHL scoring with 15 points (seven goals, eight assists).
- Grand Rapids goaltender Tom McCollum is currently tied for third amongst goaltenders in the AHL in wins with six.
- Hamilton forward Louis Leblanc is currently on a four-game point streak, totalling five goals and three assists over that span.
- Seven of Hamilton defenceman Magnus Nygren’s eight points this season have come on the power play.
