HAMILTON, ONTARIO – After a first period in which the Hamilton Bulldogs outshot the Utica Comets 17-7, the ‘Dogs (5-5-0-3) couldn’t maintain the same pressure through the final two periods and ultimately fell to the Comets (2-8-1-1) 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Copps Coliseum.

Comets forward Zach Hamill was credited with the first goal of the game at 2:14 of the second period when a cross-ice pass from forward Pascal Pelletier bounced off Hamill and slipped past Bulldogs goaltender Dustin Tokarski as he was sliding across the crease in anticipation of a shot.

With 55 seconds to go in the second, Hamilton forward Sven Andrighetto notched his team-leading sixth goal of the season to tie the game at one, with assists to forwards Mike Blunden and Martin St. Pierre.

Comets forward Alexandre Grenier scored the eventual game-winning goal 2:59 into the third period, with assists to defenceman Peter Andersson and forward Brandon DeFazio.

With 47 seconds remaining in the game, Pelletier was called for slashing, creating a last-ditch opportunity for Hamilton to tie the game on the power play, but Utica forward Colin Stuart added an empty-net goal with 19 seconds remaining to finish off the win.

Tokarski made 29 saves on 31 shots for the Bulldogs in the loss. Joacim Eriksson made 29 saves on 30 shots for the Comets in the win.

The Bulldogs went 0-for-3 on the power play, while the Comets went 0-for-2.
