GAME PREVIEW: BULLDOGS @ COMETS

UTICA, NEW YORK – Coming off a home-and-home sweep of the North Division-leading Toronto Marlies, the Hamilton Bulldogs will be in Utica, New York tonight to take on the Utica Comets at 7:00 p.m.  The ‘Dogs will be looking to extend their current point streak to four consecutive games.

Tonight’s game is the third of four match ups between the Bulldogs and Comets this season, as well as the second and final game at Utica Memorial Auditorium. In the first two meetings between these two clubs this season, they’ve split the season series with a win apiece. The ‘Dogs took the first meeting 3-2 on Saturday, October 26th in Utica, while the Comets replied with a 3-1 win at Copps Coliseum on Sunday, November 10th.

As mentioned, the ‘Dogs are coming off back-to-back wins against the Marlies – 2-1 in overtime on Friday in Toronto and 4-2 last night in Hamilton. With the wins, Hamilton is now back in a tie for second place in the American Hockey League’s North Division with the Rochester Americans.

Utica heads into today’s game having won four of its past six contests. A 4-3 home loss to the Binghamton Senators last night ended a three-game winning streak for the Comets.

Quick Notes
- There are currently seven Ontario-born players on the Comets roster: F Alex Friesen (St. Catharines), F Cal O’Reilly (Toronto), F Kellan Lain (Oakville), F Brandon DeFazio (Etobicoke), F Darren Archibald (Newmarket), D Frank Corrado (Woodbridge) and D Kent Huskins (Almonte).
- With Roberto Luongo out of the Vancouver Canucks lineup, Utica goaltender Joacim Eriksson was recalled by Vancouver on Saturday.
- Utica is 29th in the AHL in goals for with 66.
- Hamilton forwards Louis Leblanc, Nick Tarnasky, Mike Blunden and Sven Andrighetto currently share a four-way tie for the team lead in goals with eight.
- The ‘Dogs fired a season-high 49 shots on goal in yesterday’s 4-2 win over the Toronto Marlies.
