MONTREAL, QUEBEC – The Binghamton Senators scored two goals 43 seconds apart in the second period to gain the lead and the Hamilton Bulldogs couldn’t answer back as the ‘Dogs (22-24-1-4) ultimately fell 4-1 to the Sens (33-15-1-3) on Saturday evening at Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.

It was a scoreless, though feisty first period at Bell Centre, with Bulldogs defenceman Jarred Tinordi and Senators defenceman Mark Borowiecki setting the tone with a fight just 28 seconds into the game for one of two scraps in the opening 20 minutes.

Hamilton forward Nick Tarnasky got the ‘Dogs on the board first just over four minutes into the second period when he stripped a Senator of the puck at the defensive blue line, streaked into the offensive zone and snapped a shot past Binghamton goaltender Andrew Hammond. Tarnasky’s 11th goal of the season was unassisted.

Binghamton forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau replied at 15:00 of the second period, assisted by forwards Andre Petersson and Jim O’Brien.

Just 43 seconds later, the Sens gained the lead when forward Buddy Robinson ripped a shot past a sprawling Dustin Tokarski. Forwards Shane Prince and Derek Grant collected assists on the play.

Petersson extended Binghamton’s lead to 3-1 at 12:29 of the third period, assisted by Pageau and forward Matt Puempel.

Senators forward Mike Hoffman added an empty netter with 1:58 remaining to seal the 4-1 victory.

Tokarski made 18 saves on 21 shots in the Bulldogs net in the loss. Hammond made 31 saves on 32 shots for the Senators in the win.

Both teams went 0-for-3 on the power play.
