HAMILTON, ONTARIO – Two teams, both seven points back of a playoff spot in the American Hockey League’s Western Conference, will fight for their playoff hopes tonight at FirstOntario Centre as the Hamilton Bulldogs and Lake Erie Monsters go head-to-head at 7:30 p.m.

Tonight’s game marks the eighth of 10 meetings between the Bulldogs and Monsters this season. In their last meeting on January 25th at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, the Bulldogs pumped the Monsters 6-2. So far this season, Hamilton holds a 4-2-0-1 record against Lake Erie. In eight games between the two clubs last season, the ‘Dogs had a record of 3-4-0-1.

The Monsters split a pair of home games with the Texas Stars earlier this week, with a 2-1 loss on Tuesday, then a 3-2 shootout win on Wednesday. They’re 4-5-0-1 in their past 10 games.

The Bulldogs halted a six-game home losing skid with a 3-1 win over the San Antonio Rampage in their last game on Sunday. Hamilton is 3-6-1-0 in its past 10 contests.

These two teams are both in a three-way tie with the Utica Comets for third in the American Hockey League’s North Division, as well as a four-way tie with the Comets and Charlotte Checkers for 12th in the Western Conference, with 23 games to play in the regular season.

- There are six Ontario-born players on the Monsters roster: F Andrew Agozzino (Kleinburg), F Garrett Meurs (Ripley), F Joey Hishon (Stratford), F Mike Sgarbossa (Campbellville), F Mitchell Heard (Bowmanville) and D Daniel Maggio (Windsor).
- Monsters forward Bryan Lerg is second-worst in the AHL in plus-minus at -22.
- Bulldogs forward Martin St. Pierre has nine points (two goals, seven assists) in his past nine games.
- Hamilton defenceman Morgan Ellis is a team-best +10 in plus-minus.
