HAMILTON, ONTARIO – Goaltender Devan Dubnyk made 38 saves in his Hamilton Bulldogs (25-26-1-4) debut, but he and his teammates were outshot 40-24 by the offensively-potent Oklahoma City Barons (27-24-1-7) and ultimately fell to the Barons 2-1 on Friday night at FirstOntario Centre.

Bulldogs defenceman Nathan Beaulieu opened the scoring at 6:19 of the first period when he roofed a wrist shot past Barons goaltender Richard Bachman. Beaulieu’s fifth goal of the season was assisted by defenceman Greg Pateryn and forward Martin St. Pierre.

Less than four minutes later, Oklahoma City forward Mark Arcobello intercepted Beaulieu’s clearing attempt and picked the top right corner of the net past Dubnyk to tie the game 1-1.

At 6:49 of the second period, Arcobello accepted a cross-ice pass from forward Anton Lander on the power play and ripped home his second goal of the night to put the Barons ahead 2-1. Forward Roman Horak drew a second assist on the play.

The ‘Dogs mustered seven shots on goal in the third period and pulled Dubnyk late for an extra attacker, but they couldn’t put another one past Bachman to tie the game.

Dubnyk finished with 38 saves on 40 shots in the Bulldogs net in the loss. Bachman made 23 saves on 24 shots for the Barons in the win.

Hamilton went 0-for-6 on the power play, while Oklahoma City went 1-for-6.
