GAME PREVIEW: PENGUINS @ BULLDOGS

HAMILTON, ONTARIO – The Hamilton Bulldogs Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins will go head-to-head for their first regular season matchup in more than five years tonight at FirstOntario Centre at 7:00 p.m. The last time these two teams met in Hamilton, forward Ryan Russell scored twice and goaltender Marc Denis made 26 saves in a 4-1 Bulldogs victory on February 21st, 2009.

Tonight is the first of two games between the Bulldogs and Penguins this season. The Bulldogs have an all-time record of 8-7-1-2 against the Penguins.

Last night, the Penguins fell to the Utica Comets 2-1 in a shootout. The Pens are currently on the fourth game of a five-game road swing and are 1-1-0-1 on the trip thus far. They currently sit eighth in the American Hockey League’s Eastern Conference, just one point ahead of the ninth-place Hershey Bears.

Despite falling last night to the Oklahoma City Barons 2-1, Hamilton has three wins in its past four games. The ‘Dogs continue their quest to the playoffs, currently sitting nine points out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Tonight marks the second of three home games in three days for the Bulldogs.

- There are seven Ontario-born players on the Penguins roster: F Harry Zolnierczyk (Toronto), F Adam Payerl (Kitchener), F Tom Kostopoulos (Mississauga), F Denver Manderson (Fergus), D Reid McNeill (London), D Scott Harrington (Kingston) and D Nick D’Agostino (Bolton).
- Penguins forward Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond is tied for second in the AHL with 211 penalty minutes.
- Hamilton goalie Devan Dubnyk made 38 saves in his Hamilton debut last night and was named the game’s second star.
- Bulldogs defenceman Greg Pateryn is currently on a four-game point streak, notching one goal and four assists during the span.
- Hamilton has points in 13 of 18 Saturday games this season (10-5-1-2).
