GAME PREVIEW: MONSTERS @ BULLDOGS

HAMILTON, ONTARIO – The American Hockey League North Division rivalry between the Hamilton Bulldogs and Lake Erie Monsters gets renewed on Sunday as the two clubs go head-to-head for the fifth and final time at FirstOntario Centre this season at 3:00 p.m.

Today’s game marks the ninth of 10 meetings between the Bulldogs and the Monsters this season. In their last meeting on February 28th at FirstOntario Centre, the Bulldogs won 3-2 in a shootout. So far this season, Hamilton holds a 5-2-0-1 record against Lake Erie. In eight games between the two clubs last season, the ‘Dogs had a record of 3-4-0-1.

Lake Erie comes into today’s game having lost last night to the Toronto Marlies, 4-1. The Monsters sit fifth in the American Hockey League’s North Division, having lost two of their last three contests. This game is the second of a four-game road trip for Lake Erie.

Today’s match marks the final game of a home three-in-three for Hamilton. The Bulldogs have gone winless in their first two contests, falling to the Oklahoma City Barons on Friday and to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last night. The Bulldogs are 4-5-1-0 in their last 10 games.

- There are six Ontario-born players on the Monsters roster: F Andrew Agozzino (Kleinburg), F Garrett Meurs (Ripley), F Joey Hishon (Stratford), F Mike Sgarbossa (Campbellville), F Mitchell Heard (Bowmanville) and D Daniel Maggio (Windsor).
- Lake Erie leads the AHL’s Western Conference in penalty minutes with 1,291.
- With his goal in last night’s 4-2 defeat, Hamilton Bulldogs forward Gabriel Dumont now leads the team in goals with 15. With two points on the night, Dumont brought his career AHL regular season point total to 100.
- With an assist on Dumont’s goal last night, Bulldogs forward Mike Blunden tallied his 100th career AHL regular season assist.
