HAMILTON, ONTARIO – Hamilton Bulldogs forwards Mike Blunden, Christian Thomas and Gabriel Dumont scored and netminder Dustin Tokarski made 27 saves in his return from a stint with the Montreal Canadiens as the ‘Dogs (27-30-1-4) went on to beat the Abbotsford Heat (34-23-5-2) 3-1 on Wednesday evening at FirstOntario Centre.

Abbotsford defenceman Chris Breen opened the scoring at 8:56 of the first period when he fired a wrist shot from the slot that just squeaked past Tokarski. Forwards Corey Locke and Sven Baertschi collected assists on the play.

Blunden replied late in the opening frame with his 15th goal of the season to tie the game 1-1, with assists from forward Martin St. Pierre and defenceman Joel Chouinard.

Thomas put the ‘Dogs ahead 2-1 at 12:42 of the second period when he potted a rebound off a shot by forward Michael Bournival. Forward Sven Andrighetto had a second assist on Thomas’ ninth goal of the campaign.

With just four minutes to go in the third period, Dumont got hauled down on a breakaway chance, then scored on the ensuing penalty shot to give Hamilton a 3-1 lead.

Tokarski made 27 saves on 28 shots for the Bulldogs in the win. Aaron Dell made 36 saves on 39 shots for the Heat in the loss.
