HAMILTON, ONTARIO – The Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club and the Bulldogs Foundation announced today the special military-themed jerseys worn on November 8th have raised $11,000 via silent auction, with the proceeds being split evenly between the Bulldogs Foundation and Yellow Ribbon. Yellow Ribbon’s donation was allocated to the 13th Regiment Foundation in Hamilton, which provides counselling and financial help for military families in the Hamilton area.
“We’re thrilled to be able to support the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry through Yellow Ribbon,” said Stephen Ostaszewicz, President of the Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club and member of the Bulldogs Foundation Board of Directors. “There are countless military families in our community and this donation allocated to the 13th Regiment Foundation is a small token of our appreciation for all that these men and women do for our country.”
On Friday, November 8th, the Bulldogs wore special military-themed jerseys as the club took on the Grand Rapids Griffins. Those game-worn jerseys were then auctioned off, with the jerseys of goaltenders Robert Mayer ($675) and Dustin Tokarski ($600) garnering the highest bids.
The Bulldogs Foundation was established in 2007. The mission of the Foundation is to enrich the lives of children and youth in the Greater Hamilton Area through cash donations, gifts in kind and the assignment of tickets. By doing so, the Foundation aims to promote the creativity of interactive programs involving education, physical fitness and personal well-being. The main purpose of the Foundation is to strengthen and broaden the base of the Hamilton Bulldogs community support by providing funds to non-profit community groups and by supporting educational and community programs.
